Morris Ferstein “Morrie”, age 99 lived a full and wonderful life. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ruth, of 71 years, and loving daughter Shari (Howard) Green and Joy (John) Cleland, He was a wonderful grandfather to Jenna, Ilana, and Aidan, and a treasured uncle to many wonderful nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Family was everything to Morrie. He was surrounded by his friends and loved ones at the time of his peaceful passing. Morrie was a Master Sargent in the Army Air Corps in WWII, and was later active in the Jewish War Veterans, proudly serving as their Commander in the early 2000s. He earned his living as a proud union printer-engraver for the Chicago Tribune. He retired at 63 to volunteer at local hospitals. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, going to concerts, playing cards, being surrounded by friends, or just “schmoozing”. He was an avid, successful bowler and enjoyed golfing. As a Cubs Fan, he lived for the day he could see them win the pennant. He got his wish. Chapel service Fri, 9/22,12:15 at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd, Arlington Heights. Interment will follow at Shalom Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Morris’ name be made to The Jewish War Veterans.
